It’s always better to give (flowers) than to receive
Arizona Flower Market is empowering the approach of paying it forward by gifting two free bushels of flowers away today. These free blossoms are being given away in festivity of Petal it Forward, a well-known event in the floral industry.
This event is celebrated locally throughout Phoenix floral shops but also across the entire U.S. It was created by the Society of American Florists (SAF). While the average person wouldn’t have any idea what Petal it Forward is, flower vendors everywhere throughout the nation are amped up for sharing the vibe great recommendation of giving no-strings-attached blooms away by the bushel.
The idea is simple. You got free flowers, now give them away to someone else. A blessing that keeps on blessing throughout this day. So if you are reading this, it’s likely too late to make your way over to Arizona Flower Market to pickup your free flowers, but it’s not too late to stop by your local grocery store, pick up some flowers and give them away to total stranger. Weird? Yea, a little, but you never know who could use a little pick-me-up.
This idea of investing into enriching someone else is a program tied in concert with the “Random Acts of Kindness” campaign. It’s about people; happy people. Spreading cheer with flowers is unique way to express kindness to someone else, but even a smile or a kind word is something we can all do today.
Studies show we love receiving flowers
However, there’s something special about flowers. Studies show that people have a positive response to receiving flowers. Here’s 3 things we learned from studies completed at Texas A&M about what people think about giving and receiving flowers:
- Giving away flowers not only have positive effects for the recipient, but also for the giver: 88% of people said that bestowing flowers on someone made them feel joyful. A whopping 80% said that getting flowers made them feel happy.
- Being around flowers makes people happy. It’s true, according to the study 75% of people said that having flowers around lifts their spirits.
- And of course, women came in at 90% saying the best reason for receiving flowers was “just because”. So there you have it. We love flowers, and gifted flowers are good for everybody involved.
Thank you Arizona Flower Market for participating in this event and making our city a better place, even if for day. Your act of kindness goes beyond bring joy to people today, this 11th day of Oct, it shows us that our mission in life should be people, and bringing them joy.
